Among winemakers in Germany, Jochen Beurer is revered and his wines are nearly always considered among the greats. Beurer's wines always have an energy to them, and that is especially true of his Trollinger wine. Though this is definitely a red wine, Jochen Beurer likes to say, “this isn’t red wine or white wine, it’s Trollinger.” Which is to say, this is a singular wine -- bright and brambly, with vivid crunchy red fruits, a myriad of dried spices and a fine, bouyant minerality.
